Nicknamed "renala" or "reniala," the mother of the forest, by the Malagasy people, you've understood the origin of our brand name 😊, this iconic tree originates from the west of Madagascar and is particularly abundant around Morondava and its famous avenue of baobabs. The Baobab bears fruit that has been used for centuries by local populations as a source of food, traditional remedies, or for the crafting of handmade products.
The oil extracted from its seeds is a true beauty secret. Perfect for nourishing and hydrating dry skin, it offers intense hydration and absolute comfort. Moreover, appreciated for its anti-aging properties, this precious oil reduces stretch marks and diminishes signs of skin aging for smoother, firmer, and radiant youthfulness.
In our intervention region, in the southwest of Madagascar, slash-and-burn agriculture wreaks havoc in semi-arid forests, and the deforestation rate is among the highest on the large island.
One of the solutions implemented by Renala is to create economic value for Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP). Through the establishment of sustainable value chains, we contribute to reducing poverty in Madagascar by creating income-generating activities for the communities we work with.
